On 8th December 2023, the European Parliament approved the Artificial Intelligence Act, proposed by the European Commission on 21st April 2023.

It is the first regulation of Artificial Intelligence worldwide, after several declarations of principles or the formulation of recommendations, always at the moral level. Among, High-risk systems are those that pose significant threats to health and fundamental rights. The act is structured around levels of danger and well segmented by socioeconomic sectors, with control structures.

The Special Envoy of the Order of Malta for the New Forms of Exclusion Sergio Rodríguez López-Ros maintains regular contacts with the EU4Health Programme of the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA).
